Magpies and jackdaws can be seen mainly alone or in pairs foraging through Tapijn in search of tasty snacks. There are also rooks and jays, but you do not see them as frequently around Tapijn, so we will disregard them for now.

Corvids are generalists and can adapt quickly to new habitats. They are very intelligent birds that are not picky when it comes to diet. They are omnivores that will eat whatever is available at a certain time and place.
A lot of interesting research has been done into the intelligence of corvids. They have great problem-solving abilities, use objects as tools, have an excellent memory, and adapt their behaviour to the expected reactions of others of their kind. Behavioural scientists therefore also refer to them as ‘feathered primates’.
